Tick one off your bucket list

Tick one off your bucket list
Dreaming of breathtaking mountain views, serene rivers, and pristine wildlife? Soon you’ll be living your dream. Taiga Journeys has a cure for your wanderlust – it’s a serving of beautiful, wild Yukon, and all those iconic places you’ve dreamed of. We share the secrets of the places we love so you leave feeling connected to the land.

Are your ready to tackle your bucket list? Has the wonder of exploring touched you again? The Yukon is ready for you. Could there be a better place to seek some solitude then a country where there are more moose living than humans?

I have to admit, traveling comes with some extra burdens, precaution and some reservation. I returned to the Yukon at the beginning of November from a visit with my mom in Switzerland and experienced first-hand all the extra steps that were needed. From a covid vaccination certificate to testing before boarding a plane. So, if you decide you wait a bit with traveling, I can understand. And be assured, Taiga Journeys runs only small groups and adheres to the current covid-19 regulations.

For the summer 2022 I plan to offer the classic canoeing and hiking trips. With a guarantee of a group not bigger than 6 people. If you like to embark on a trip customized to your group let me know, Taiga Journeys can make it happen.

For 2022 I have been redesigning the Coast Mountains hiking program. It is tailored to the avid hiker that likes to enjoy a remote area but doesn’t want to carry a heavy backpack.

Over the last few years, I had more and more guests with special dietary preferences or allergies. Taiga Journeys is proud to serve you home prepared, whole, real and flavourful meals. As much fresh produce as possible are used. And accommodating special diets is not a problem

Last summer has been a bit quieter than other summers! Here are a few trip highlights:
.

Bird watching and photography along the Dempster Highway beginning of June:
This trip was customized for a very keen birder that had read the book “The hundred birds to see before you die”. The Smith Longspur is one of the 100 birds and keen birders know that the Dempster highway is one of the few easy accessible areas to see this bird. So we set out to find it and – were successful!
We were also able to locate and photograph resident and migrating birds. The weather, company, birdwatching, alpine flowers and the scenery were outstanding.

Paddling the Teslin River von Johnson’s crossing to Hootalinqua: This easy 5 day trip ends with a float plane pick up in Hootalinqua. That on it’s own is an adventure!

A weeklong hiking trip based out of the campground in Tombstone Territorial Park:
The fall colours on this trip were at their prime. To finish off this journey we spent a day in the gold rush town of Dawson.
As you see below, the weather doesn’t always cooperate but Mary dressed in her orange rain coat and had a blast!

Let’s start planning together!
I am looking forward to adventurous journeys in 2022.
